Squarespace has just announced that they have partnered with Sprout (the Good API) to as a third party extension. And what it does is so cool in such a simple way. And this is a feature that I know a lot of my clients with e-commerce shops have wanted.
Essentially it allows you to plant a tree or two trees or more with every item purchased. And there are a few different ways you can customize the set it up.
Let me know if you decide to use it!

0:00 Hey, welcome back to the Calibri concepts YouTube channel. And I'm very excited about my new camera setup. I feel like the white balance is a lot better and I'm very happy to be going forward with this.
0:13 I'm actually using my phone here, which is epic. That's my phone. I'm looking at you and my phone. Now moving on to the point of this app, the actual point of this video, Squarespace has just announced that they have partnered with sprout to as a third party extension.
0:29 And what it does is so cool in such a simple way. And this is a feature that I know a lot of my clients with e-commerce shops have wanted.
0:38 So essentially it allows you to plant a tree or two trees or whatever with every item purchased, there's a few different ways you can set it up.
0:48 And you can also do it. Based on monetary amount, I believe. Let's take a look. So this is the actual score space page and they say it's 50 cents per tree in US dollars.
1:02 It so you can choose how many trees are planted. You can, they'll give you a widget once you've planted some trees that you can embed onto your site and tell people like, yes, we're planting trees, which is an epic thing.
1:18 And they have a really fun dashboard for you to be able to track how it's going in your business. Yes.
1:24 So right now the trees are going to planting mangrove trees in Madagascar because they are a, they sink a lot of carbon.
1:33 And we'll talk more about that. So it makes it so, so easy. It's good for any site is only available.
1:40 In English, but it works on any site from any country in Squarespace. So this is what the dashboard looks like.
1:47 I went and tested it out. I was able to install it with just a couple of clicks. So if we go actually going really quick back to Squarespace's, Squarespace's page, you click this connect to site button and it will have you.
2:01 Sign up. If you're already signed up or once you create an account, you will be able to pick your website.
2:08 So for me, it's I've got a long list of Squarespace's websites in my account. So I was able to pick my website.
2:14 So you pick the correct website that you'd like it to go with. And then it asks me a few questions.
2:18 First, it asked me to update my billing information so that it can actually charge me per tree planted. It also asked me if I want to plant a tree forever.
2:28 So I can say for every order or for every product. You can see as I change that, it tells me to update it here.
2:36 And I can say I plant two trees for every order or I plant trees when an order exceeds. And it looks like there is a Canadian dollars.
2:46 This must be a Canadian company. They give you the ability to have a banner. So that's what this is. It's automated.
2:53 All I had to do is click this button and it automatically tells my customers that buy a bundle or a power hour from me.
3:05 That let's take a look here. There we go. That they get a tree. So. Pretty cool. Looking at it a little bit more, I went, I was like, hmm, have to do my homework.
3:16 So how does it all work? They've got a really good description here. They're mangrove trees and because of the carbon sink, they're currently planting them in Madagascar.
3:35 But you can track the impact of it all with the Eden account page and the tree planting ledger. You also will get a certificate for the trees you plant.
3:47 They do try to make sure that the plants are thriving. So they check on them. And they've got a forest guard and dalmat fun to make sure that there's long-term guarding for the trees.
4:02 So it's a really pretty easy system. What I really like about it is like it was so, so easy to set up and it's fairly affordable for you.
4:15 And your client so you can even see they've got information about lots of this here. I'll link this in the show notes for anybody who's curious.
4:28 So roughly 18 cents goes to actually. Credit card fees and the actual tree planting. The rest goes towards maintaining this website, paying their staff, all those other things.
4:39 So pretty good proportion, I think. And it's your homepage. You can actually see it works for Shopify Squarespace and then you can use the API on any site.
4:55 So something like WordPress you could probably get away with as well. Quite exciting. So I'm going to go ahead and get into it and see how this goes.
5:03 I'll try to post an update as I kind of get into it and have some sales. I'm helping to host my annual birthday sale in August where I sell all my shop items.
5:18 And my simplified business bundle out of discount. And yeah, so let's see how it goes.
