Unconventional Things To Outsource To Get More Time For Your Life And Business

Time, money, and energy are all essentially the same thing.

Let that soak in for a minute.

We must be mindful of what we spend in each category and each person’s version of an “ideal” balance to strive for is different. Some people (like me!) love to craft and find that spending their time and energy creating something they could buy is absolutely worth it. However, this isn’t the case for everyone.

In business, especially online business, we are often told to outsource. The standard advice is to get rid of some of your business related tasks. This is completely understandable!

If your business is what’s taking up all of your time, then it makes sense that delegating some of those tasks can make a world of difference in your ability to grow your business.

But what about other tasks you can outsource to make your life easier? You can free up time to have both a life AND a business.

You can do anything, but not everthing.

Life:

  • Cleaning

  • Dog Walking

  • Repairs & Maintenance

  • Cooking / Meal Preparation

  • Personal Finance

  • Gift Giving / Clothes Shopping

  • Furniture Assembly

  • Child Care

Business:

  • Business Finance

  • Administrative Tasks

  • Social Media

  • Community Management

  • Copywriting

  • Website Creation

  • Photography

  • Podcast Management

  • Video Editing

The list goes on for both categories, so use your imagination!

There are local businesses and corporations that will help you tackle these types of tasks.

Remember if you can make more money than you spent in the time you saved, it’s well worth it. And some things are just worth it for saving your sanity and energy so you have some to spare for what really matters.

What I’m Outsourcing:

  • Last summer we paid a friend of a friend to paint the bathroom. It turned out a million times better than it would have if we’d done it ourselves and we got a great price!

  • Grocery collection - sort of. Twice a month we do Click & Collect for our longer lasting groceries. We don’t have to spend a bunch of time walking around the store and spending money on things we don’t need. We simply drive up and pop everything into our reusable bags. We get everything else from the butcher and green grocer that are both literally around the corner from us.

  • Admin in my own business. Like I mentioned last week, I’ve hired some help to ensure that my own business runs more smoothly and give me a couple extra hours each week to get to do things - like write blog posts!

  • Early next spring I intend to hire someone to do a deep clean of my house. Top to bottom. We have a dog and have lived in our place for a couple of years now. I want someone to make the place more clean than I have time for all at once!

A few years ago I moved halfway across the world after marrying a beautiful man from N. Ireland. To support a more flexible life, I created systems and a kickass website to protect my time, energy and yes my flexibility. And then I started doing it for my clients too!
