Podcast S1:E1 An Intro to The Capable Collective
Show notes:
Today I want to start with - What is the Capable Collective?
And actually, I want to backtrack that a little bit and start with the why.
For the past few years. I have been working to help women in business with their technology. Leveraging it to help them save time, money, and energy and make their businesses work for them.
I noticed some common themes. Women simply didn't think they were capable of handling the tech side of their business. I heard, " I'm just not techie", over and over and over again. In fact it hasn't just been the technology. Often women don't seem to feel comfortable with creating systems, processes, implementing tools, hiring, managing finances and more. In short, there is a disconnect with the operational side of running a business.
You see, for pretty much ever women have been told that we aren't allowed to do these things. We aren't allowed to be capable in these areas. And if we somehow do manage to do these things well, we have to do them as a man would. Because they "created the business world" after all.
But finally other narratives are coming out.
And the way that women see the world, the way we solve problems, and the way we work is becoming more and more valuable.
So here's the thing. Women have relied on collective knowledge and working as a community since well… forever. There's a reason that there are things called "old wives' remedies" and "old wives' tales". As a collective of women have raised children educated and fed the entire community. And so much more.
Eventually I realized that while there are a million incredible resources for helping women through the mindset and emotional side of running a business, there's practically nothing in place to help them wade through the mechanical side of everything.
Eventually, I just got sick of hearing," I'm not techie". So I decided to create a place.
That's why The Capable Collective was created.
Because I have a vision for a space - where women run business in the integrative way that comes so naturally for us.
And we all thrive while doing it. Because there is a desperate need for us to push away from the hustle culture. That exists in digital business.
Because there needs to be an informational hub where the curtain is pulled back on the mechanical side of business. We are in this together.
So now let's talk about the Capable Collective actually is.
And the fact is, is that it is evolving. I know it will be something community-based. I know it will be a resource hub. I know it will be packed with actionable value. And I have a lot of ideas as to how to make that happen, but I'm still fine tuning it.
This podcast is just a piece of that puzzle.
A space where I can talk about the best tools and systems I've come across. From working behind the scenes in dozens of businesses. It is a space to showcase experts that have either set my soul on fire or set a fire under my ass. People who challenge the status quo of business. And who are working from a place of ease and still doing what they love.
This podcast will consist of short seasons. Each with a designated theme or focus.
Our first season, we'll focus on simplified systems. And upcoming seasons will include things like money made easy, working with our natural rhythms, simplified content creation, how to effectively outsource, and so much more.
